Impact
Goal : See your IMPACT
Teaching is hard! It takes time! It takes energy. Being a Montessori teacher takes a special type of energy!
Sometimes in the business of all of it we lose sight of what we are doing and why! I know around this time of year I become discouraged and tired- so very tired. This weekend, I had the opportunity to remember why I do my job- and it is the students.
To be honest, I didn’t want to go to our robotics competition this weekend. My overall exhaustion was holding me back from being able to live in the present and see the fruits of my hard work!
This robotic season was hard! Normally, it takes about 100 hours of work to have a successful robotics season. Falling out of the tree midseason really stopped the progress of my team. FRUSTRATED- TIRED- but we pulled it together at the end - right before the competition.
The Bees (my team) won second place champions award- but this is not where I saw my impact.
I saw my impact in:
The way the students spoke to each other
The confidence they had when they spoke to the judges
How courteous they were to the other teams
Their JOY
Their determination to have a good season regardless of the hard things that had been thrown our way
The alumni that came back to support our teams and me
How well the alumni are doing in high school
SOMETIMES- we are blinded by the work that we forget to see the creation- We are taking part in the creation of the human.
This week, join me and look for it ! Look for the impact you are having on the students you work with- even when we are so tired.
Reflective Challenge this Week:
At the end of the day, make a list of 10 things you did to impact your students and the adults around you.
Before you start the next day, look over the list and remember the why.
